I still had to use the adapter I was trying to use for the copper tubing. But I added a little plastic compression thing to it and used some teflon tape. I'm not even sure if the plastic piece is meant for the nut thing I used but it worked and it hasn't leaked, so I'm not touching it! well, yes, but that’s not ultimately what fixed it.
